Hi, I’m Marie

Developmental editor, manuscript critique, beta reader, manuscript assessment
A torn piece of old, beige paper with handwritten cursive text in brown ink.

I’m a developmental editor who works with fiction books. My goal is to help you shape your story into their best form and to make sure your voice, your vision, and your message truly reaches the reader.

And more than that? I care. A lot.

About your characters and their emotional arcs. About the flow of your story, the pacing. And about how you feel throughout the whole process.

How I Work and Why I Don’t Charge Hourly

That means:

  • I take time to read your manuscript deeply at least two times.

  • I read comp titles and, when needed, do topic-specific research to fully understand the story’s context, themes, or setting.

  • I keep in contact with you throughout the process—asking questions, checking in, and making sure my suggestions align with your vision.

It’s a matter of a principle for me to charge solely by word, and not by the time I spend to edit your book. I believe when you hire me, it’s not my time that you get. You get my full commitment.

You’re not paying for the hours I spend. You’re paying for my focus, attention, and my full commitment to your work. I full heartedly believe, that that’s what your story deserves.
